La Route du fer, (ou Ruta del ferro en espagnol), peut sonner de prime abord assez froid et dure. On s’imagine déjà endosser un sac lourd de minerais et marcher le long de rails s’engouffrant dans les tréfonds d’une mine sombre.

Et c’est pourtant bien tout le contraire ! En choisissant cette randonnée vous vous engagerez sur un chemin accueillant, splendide et facile. La randonnée de la Route du fer est vraiment une chouette découverte et conviendra pour toute la famille, petits et grands.

Pourquoi la Route du fer d’Andorre s’appelle-t-elle ainsi ?

Entre le XVIIe et le XIX, la métallurgie était l’une des activités économiques les plus importante d’Andorre. Extraction, transformation, production… ce chemin fait partie de l’axe principal des Pyrénées dédié à ces anciennes activités et s’étend à travers la Catalogne, l’Aquitaine, l’Ariège et Guipuzcoa.

D’ailleurs, a votre arrivée sur le lieu, juste à côté du parking au démarrage de la randonnée, vous croiserez deux entrées vers les mines qui fond 30 mètres de profondeur.

Si vous vous sentez l’âme d’un spéléologue, vous pouvez visiter ces mines qui font désormais partie du patrimoine. Notez qu’un guide devra obligatoirement vous accompagner et que ces vestiges sont seulement ouverts à certaines périodes de l’année.

Une randonnée facile et idyllique

Le point de départ pour la Route du fer est situé dans la paroisse d’Ordino et plus précisément à proximité du magnifique village de Llorts. Vous pourrez y garer facilement et gratuitement votre voiture sur le parking et commencer votre promenade.

Le sentier de la route du fer vous fera passer par la forêt, des vallons et des pâturages. Le chemin est bien entretenu et est parfois bordé de charmants murets de vielles pierres que les anciens ont construit à la sueur de leur front.

Signature typiquement Andorrane : un torrent et quelques ruisseaux vous accompagnerons également durant votre balade.
